Buyer's Guides
Facts and Figures in Abundance
Everyone benefits from buyer's guides. Readers get a convenient way to compare products in a reference guide they'll keep for a year or more. Manufacturers can present their information in a standardized format, one that levels the playing field and eliminates biased comparisons based on dissimilar measurement methods. Advertisers get placed next to the equipment they sell, rather than in run-of-book placement, and in a publication that readers use over and over for months or years. Sales staff have a new tool for selling; one of our clients generated over $1 million in ad sales the first two years we did their buyer's guide.
And editors? Well, almost everyone benefits. For editors, building a buyer's guide is a tremendous amount of work. That's where we come in. We take that load off the editorial staff. We work with your advertising salespersons, your advertisers, and with manufacturers to collect specifications on products of interest to your readers. We consult with equipment associations or other independent third-party agencies to make sure your spec presentation conforms to industry standards. We format the charts to meet your requirements and then deliver those charts electronically.
We're here to help no matter what your experience level with buyer's guides. If you've never done one, we'll work with you to ensure your first effort is successful and that it lays the groundwork for subsequent guides. If you've been doing a guide but would now like to contract out that project, we're ready to step in as soon as you need us. And we're here to help regardless of the scope of your guide. A two page insert on a single product category? We can do that. A poster with a dozen spec charts? No problem. A 300-page stand-alone publication on 40 types of equipment? We do those every year.
Buyer's guides have high value for both readers and advertisers and therefore offer great potential to your publication. Our expertise allows you to get the most profit with the least effort. Call us today to discuss how a buyer's guide can benefit you.
Our biggest buyer's guide project is the Spec Guide we do for Equipment World magazine. Each year we solicit and edit some quarter-million specs on 47 categories of equipment from more than 150 manufacturers. Print versions are available from Equipment World or you can go to the online version of this product.
